Ruroc needed a next-generation carbon composite helmet that could set a new benchmark in their range — lighter, safer, and more aerodynamic than anything they'd produced before. As lead design engineer on the EOX project, Ben led development from concept through to certified production, working across materials innovation, safety engineering, and aerodynamic refinement. The result is Ruroc's lightest and most advanced helmet to date, achieving both ECE 22.06 and DOT certification.

The challenge

A helmet that performs at the highest level without compromise

The brief demanded advances across multiple disciplines simultaneously — a lighter composite shell without sacrificing impact protection, improved ventilation without compromising aerodynamics, and seamless visor integration that met two international safety standards. Every design decision carried trade-offs that required deep engineering judgement.

The solution

Quad-Matrix Carbon Composite — T300 carbon fibre reinforced with Kevlar, Nylon, and Fibreglass

The material innovation at the core of the EOX is a new composite formulation that delivers the lightest, most robust shell Ruroc has produced. Integrated RHEON reactive polymer technology and multi-density impact liners provide protection against both direct and rotational forces. A redesigned spoiler, six-point ventilation system, and refined contours complete the performance package.
